Busy weekend

So the last weekend was filled with much activity. As I told you before my bachelor graduation celebration was on Friday with a big party afterwards. Luckily I could finish my dress on time, sewing the hem an hour before the event. Hopefully I will get the pictures soon, so I can show them on here.

And on Saturday was the annual family get together. We usually all meet at a hotel, enjoy coffee and cake and a nice dinner afterwards. Stay the night, indulge in the breakfast buffet, take the mandatory family picture and drive off in seperate ways. During the day I wore this T-Shirt from the Burda World of Fashion issue February 2009 and in the evening my much beloved wrapdress from the Patrones issue 257.

Sorry for the bad quality of the pics. I'm still working on the art of taking pictures of yourself and next month when my new laptop arrives I finally get to play around with photoshop. Once I get better pics from the events I will upload them.

Have a great day!

Sneak peek at my current sewing project

So that's what I'm currently working on: Patrones No. 266
dress no. 15 from Lasserre. I desperately need to finish this until Friday, so I can wear it to my bachelor graduation party. Keep your fingers crossed that I will make it on time :-)

Fabric is an iridescent silk chiffon with pink and black threads and a pain to work with plus black viscose lining. More will follow once it's finished!

Sewing + Fashionista = Sewionista

Welcome to my brandnew blog!

Now you know where the weird name comes from, in case you were wondering :-)

So, who am I? I'm Julia from Germany, currently studying Textile and Clothing Management and working part time at a bank (I swear I had nothing to do with that financial crisis ;-). Like my study course already gives it away, I love FASHION. But I don't like the negative social + environmental impacts its production has. That's why, I mainly sew the clothing I wear myself.

The blog will therefore mostly be about sewing, fashion and other things happening in my life.

This is my first post ever, so be patient and stay tuned for more to come...
